The roundup

Gameweek 6 was a more readable week than the last two. 45% of predictions called the right result, the best since Gameweek 2, and 7% landed the exact score. Four of the ten results still went against the crowd's favourite.

The one nobody saw coming was Ipswich's 2-1 win over Fulham. Not one of the nine players who predicted it backed Ipswich: two-thirds went for a draw and the rest for a Fulham win. Crystal Palace's 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest was a smaller version of the same thing, with 55% calling a draw and only 18% backing Palace.

Manchester City made it six wins from six with a 3-0 win at Liverpool, the only side with a perfect record. The crowd didn't treat it as a lock: 45% backed Liverpool at home, with City and a draw on 27% each. Coventry's 4-1 win over Newcastle went against 55% of the pool, and it's two wins on the bounce now after four defeats to start the season.

The week's one unanimous pick came in. All ten players who predicted Arsenal v Leeds backed Arsenal, and Arsenal won 2-1, with two of them landing the exact score. Chelsea's 5-1 win over Bournemouth and Brighton's 2-0 win at Sunderland were both called correctly by 70% of the pool.

Three games finished level (Aston Villa 2-2 Brentford, Manchester United 1-1 Tottenham and Hull 2-2 Everton), and the crowd had the draw as its favourite in the first two and level with an Everton win in the third. Of the five unbeaten sides going into the weekend, Leeds lost at Arsenal and Liverpool lost to City, which leaves Manchester City, Everton and Brentford as the only teams without a defeat.

Our own calls in the Gameweek 6 preview got 6 of the 10 results right, including one exact score (Arsenal 2-1 Leeds), against 45% for the crowd, though ten games is a small sample. The four misses were Ipswich v Fulham, where we called a draw, Manchester United v Tottenham and Hull v Everton, two draws we'd called as wins, and Coventry v Newcastle, where we'd backed Newcastle.

11 players made 103 predictions. sjd won the gameweek with 31 points and the £25 prize. Naziif_Taajuu finished second on 28 points, taking the £10 on the tiebreak ahead of sideshowbob, who also had 28. The £10 is waiting on a reply from them for bank details.

In Last Man Standing, the fresh pool's first round went well for most of it. Chelsea, Arsenal and Southampton all won, and West Ham's 1-1 draw with QPR was the only pick that failed, so four of the five entries are still alive. The next round locks at 8PM on Friday 16 October.
