The opening weekend of the season set the tone for everything that's followed: only 41% of predictions picked the right result, and just 9% called an exact score, despite how one-sided some of these games turned out to be.

Hull City's 2-0 win over Manchester United was the standout shock, and it remains the only fixture all season where every single player who predicted it got it wrong. All 34 backed Manchester United - not one gave Hull a look in - and Hull won by two clear goals.

There was no shortage of company for it. Nottingham Forest lost 1-0 at home to Leeds when the crowd leaned their way, Brighton put four past Aston Villa when only three in ten backed a home win at all, and Newcastle were held 2-2 by Liverpool after three-quarters of the pool had Liverpool winning outright.

Arsenal's 3-0 win over Coventry was the one nobody got wrong - 97% of players called it correctly, the most one-sided correct pick of the week. Manchester City's 2-1 win over Bournemouth was nearly as comfortable a call, backed by 82% of the pool.

35 players made 337 predictions between them in the season's first week. Sven finished top with 45 points and the £25 prize, with Preecca second on 39 points for £10.

Six of the ten results went against the crowd's favourite, and Sven's 45 points finished six clear of second place.
